Heading to Canberra

The next morning, we set out for our destination, the Capital of Australia, Canberra. We know this route well, and we thought it would be neat to show the boys the Big Merino (a huge statue of a sheep) in Gouldburn (pronounced Gold-burn). We had been there many times ourselves.

To our great surprise - can't believe this didn't make international news - they had MOVED it!! Roger and I were looking for it on the right side of the road as we came through Gouldburn, and I turned to the left as we approached a round-about, and there it was on the left side of the road! We couldn't believe that they moved this huge thing - but they did! We even confirmed it with the shop clerk.

This was also our first dose of COLD. Sydney's temperature was nice and comfy - like about 70F. Gouldburn felt like 20 below! It wasn't - it was more like 50F with a massive wind chill that blew right through you. Here are my boys in front of the recently moved Big Merino. You can see how windy it was by looking at Kit clinging to his hood!
