Saturday At the Beach

We live VERY close to the beach, and we haven't been there for awhile -- can't really tell you why...anyway, the boys really love going to the beach. Oh, wait, now I remember why we don't go so often -- THE SAND! However, since they enjoy it so much, we took them early Saturday morning. The weather has been a little fussy here lately - stormy, if you will - so when it started sprinkling as we loaded the boys into the car, we were wondering if we would actually make it there.

We hit a torrential downpour on the way there - the island isn't THAT big - but by the time we got to North Beach (our fav and where Roger & I got married), there was no rain. Woo-hoo! Of course, there were very few people there when we arrived around 9 am, just like I like it. We staked out our area, and Roger and Jed began building a sandcastle.
Then began the filling of the moat...the boys were clever in that they would take their wagons and head into the surf getting it full (with very little effort), then hauling it back to dump it.
The boys played non-stop...
Jed trying out for Baywatch??
Then, mugging for the camera...
Kit doing his part for the filling of the moat...he looks so grown up here...
Working on filling up that wagon...
The weather held off, and eventually, Kit came back and laid down on the towel like he was going to take a nap - that was our cue to leave. And, we were only there for a little more than 2 hours!
